Santiago de Compostela, April of 2013.- from 11 to 13 April, about 200 experts related to the patient’s safety and the management of health risks of all Spain, will meet in Santiago de Compostela to attend 15 Congress of the Spanish Association of health risk and safety management of the patient, organized by (AEGRIS).

Under the theme new directions in health care risk management ” will develop this scientific meeting where themes will be addressed as the innovation in the safety of the patient, the role of nursing in risk management, the use of new technologies applied to the management of the health riskthe sustainability of the health risk or mediation in health conflicts.

The scientific program includes five roundtables, a lecture and a workshop. The San Francisco Hotel monument of Santiago will host this scientific meeting featuring prominent speakers related to the management of the health risk and the safety of the patients.

This Congress will have the honour of counting with the participation of José Manuel Romay Beccaría, President of the Council of State, which will give the Conference’s inauguration, as well as the presence of Rocío Mosquera Álvarez, Minister of health of the Xunta de Galicia.

The day of the first day will focus on innovations in patient safety and the role of nursing in risk management. The participation of Mercedes racing Viñas, Assistant Director-General of citizen and quality and assistance from Mercedes launches Gandara, Assistant Director-General of planning and assistance, both of the Galician health service programs, as well as under Rubio San Pedro, President of the Association of surgical nursing of the Valencian Community, among other speakers.

The second day will take place two round tables in the morning session which will discuss the technology applied to the health risk in Galicia and sustainable risk management. Between different experts, will participate Raquel Vázquez Mourelle, Assistant Director-General for inspection, audit and accreditation, the Department of health and Pablo Moure Parrilla, Deputy Director General of heritage of the Department of the Treasury, both of the Xunta de Galicia, as well as Mª Jesús Casal GómezHead of the subdirectorate-general for quality and cohesion of the Ministry of health, social services and equality, Clara Olveira Lorenzo, medical inspector of the Xunta de Galicia, Miguel Palacios Avilés, responsible for AONRiskConsulting and Julio González Bedia consulting counsel, Director General of ally, among other speakers.

The afternoon session will explore the legal aspects of the management of the health risk. Among the different experts, will be Secretary General technical of the Ministry of health of the Xunta de Galicia, Antonio Fernandez-Campa Garcia-bernardo, counsel of the Advisory Council of Galicia and Marta Golden Romero, head of the services legal of the Galician health service, besides the lawyers Pablo José López Paz, Constantino Alvarellos GálvezClares Ignacio Cid-Luna, Enrique Alvarez Romero and Avilés Miguel Palacios.

During the Saturday session, a workshop will be held the mediation in health conflicts ” with the objectives to present mediation as an alternative method of dispute resolution and practice the skills and techniques through practical cases of mediation health exhibition. This activity will count with the participation of: Raquel Castillejo Manzanares, Professor of procedural law of the Faculty of law of the University of Santiago de Compostela, among other speakers.

Antonio Fernandez-Campa Garcia Bernardo, Secretary General technical of the Ministry of health of the Xunta de Galicia and Constantino Alvarellos Galve, counsel of the Advisory Board of Galicia, are President and Vice President of the Scientific Committee of this Congress which aims to share the advances in the safety of the patient so that it allows us to improve the quality path, consubstantial element to health systems ” in addition to increasing the quality of care, improve the safety of patients and healthcare professionals.

AEGRIS

Spanish Association of management of health risks (AEGRIS) aims to cultivate and encourage the study and a better understanding of the matters related to the management of health risks, facilitate the exercise of these activities to their members, as well as their professional development, the continuous training of the samepromote contacts and professional exchanges and carry out any type of activities that contribute to the improvement of the quality of health services in the Spanish State and the security of users and professionals of the health services.

The Association is composed of multi-disciplinary members from medical professionals, graduates of nursing, health administration, users, professionals of law, etc.

The main current and objective conception of the management of health risks is the improvement of the quality of care by decreasing of circumstances that can harm the patient in connection with the services provided and, therefore, lead to complaints and/or claims against professional or the health care institution. In short it offers the opportunity to transform what could prove to be a spiral of litigation and mistrust between professionals and patients, in an initiative to improve quality to reduce avoidable damage that cause so much harm to patients, professionals and health institutions.
