New hospitals carried out 25% of the public hospital system healthcare activity.
Fernandez Lasquetty took stock of the activity of the new ten hospitals in the region under the mandate of Esperanza Aguirre.

Madrid, March 2012.- new public hospitals in the community of Madrid carried out 25% of the healthcare activity the public hospital system and, in particular, 32 per cent of births in the region are served in new health centres and 29% of emergencies.
In addition, new hospitals revenues already cover 20% of the total; in consultations, also 20%; and surgical interventions are responsible for 19% of them.
These are some of the data arising from the balance of activity of new hospitals submitted last Wednesday by the Health Minister, Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, in the Hospital Infanta Elena de Valdemoro. This center was the first new hospital to open its doors and was opened by her Royal Highness the Infanta Elena and the President of the community of Madrid, 24 November 2007.
The community of Madrid, under the mandate of Esperanza Aguirre, has made available to locals ten new hospitals in five years, eight of which were opened last term: of the Henares, Infanta Leonor (Vallecas), the Puerta de Hierro – Majadahonda, Infanta Sofia (San Sebastián de Reyes), Infanta Cristina (Parla), the Infanta Elena (Valdemoro), Tajo (Aranjuez) and the Southeast (Arganda del Rey). This set must be added from 2011, Hospital Gómez Ulla and the Hospital of Torrejón.
Hospital Gómez Ulla belongs from 1 January 2011 to the care network of public hospitals in the community of Madrid thanks to an agreement signed with the Ministry of defence.
Therefore, in 2011, the Gómez Ulla made 8.356 income and 4,719 surgical interventions. In addition, they attended 44.945 er, 114.029 outpatient and 264 deliveries.
On the other hand, the Torrejon Hospital which was inaugurated on September 21, 2011 by the regional President and Health Minister Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, has made 39.878 consultations, 2.337 surgical interventions, 195 deliveries, and it has served 18.080 emergency and 1,692 income.
As regards the activity accumulated since its opening these ten hospitals have registered 310.967 income, 2.564.872 er, 245.743 surgical interventions, 50.117 births and 7.005.855 consultations.
Also in 2011, new hospitals were 100.086 income and 804.393 emergency 80.301 interventions. In addition, they attended 15.509 deliveries, and 2.355.150 consultations.
Central Radiology and central laboratory on the other hand, the Central Unit of radiodiagnostic Unit conducted last year 724.661 radiological testing posed 1985 daily tests. Moreover, the central laboratory made 1.289.256 tests in 2011.
Also, Hospital Infanta Cristina has obtained the accreditation as a teaching centre for the training of resident internal doctors (MIR), which bind to the iron gate – Majadahonda, Infanta Elena, Infanta Sofia, Infanta Leonor, Henares and Gómez Ulla, who were already accredited to train residents.
New hospitals contributed 2.694 new beds, all in single rooms, have the most advanced diagnostic technology and are fully computerised.
Locals who have received all these services expressed in 2010 through satisfaction surveys approval received attention. In particular, patients praised services such as hospitalization (with an approval of 85.9%), major outpatient surgery (90.7%), obstetrics (89.8%) and external queries (89%).
The comparative cost per capita ” of new hospitals is situated in 437 euros on average per capita, below the 734 euros which, on average, cost the rest of the community of Madrid hospitals.
