Baku, 13 sep (EFE).-combating non-infectious diseases will require 48 per cent of world GDP, today said in Baku the Secretary general of the World Health Organization (who), Margaret Chan.
“In the next twenty years combating non-infectious diseases cost the world more than 30 billion dollars, 48% of GDP”, said Chan at the meeting of the European regional Committee of who held these days in the capital of Azerbaijan.
The highest authority of who indicated that these diseases destroy the achievements of economic of the countries.
“There work in preventing and curing people, but we can not eliminate the social causes of their occurrence (of disease), which are polluted air, water, stress and poor quality food products”, stated.
The Secretary general of the international agency stressed that “today the chances of health systems are under the watchful eye of the population, as well as investments by States, the resources of various funds should be used”.
Chan, on the other hand, emphasized that who should influence food industries so that they reduce salt and sugar in their products, “with special attention to the health of mothers and children”. EFE
