The Hospital Universitario 12 October Madrid has held nursing day III in oncologic patient care in primary care, which aims to coordinate the work of these professionals, between the first level of care and specialized care. Gets a continuity in the cancer patient care, and greater security both for him and his family.
The main objective of this day has been upgrade existing knowledge on cancer patient care, that they come to establish a “dependency” relationship with the nursing staff. For this reason, the programme of the day focused on cancer patient care, route of administration and palliative uuidados.
In particular they have covered issues relating to clinical trials and new cancer treatments, prevention and prophylaxis in diseases with different treatments, workshops of support during chemotherapy, care of Porta-Cath, pain scale and Hospice at home care, among others.

In October 2009, the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre signed a collaboration agreement with five hospitals in the South of the community of Madrid – currently 12 plus three from outside the region – for the creation of Oncosur, a working group on the development of research against cancer.
