Open the deadline for submission of dossiers of the II prize of art Grünenthal, dedicated to the photography


-the first prize, worth 10,000 euros, will be released as a single copy

-Interested artists may submit their dossiers until September 20, 2011

Madrid, 2011-September Grünenthal Pharma, pharmaceutical company concerning the treatment of pain worldwide, opens the deadline for submission of dossiers of artists interested in participating in its II art Prize dedicated to photography under the theme that the pain is only a memory ”. First prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and in this second edition artists may submit or collective of artists, Spanish or Portuguese, or of other nationality if they reside at Spain or Portugal.

The participating artists should submit a single photographic work, consisting of one or several images with freedom in the technique used, under the overall theme of the pain relief and produced expressly for this call. Works that have been previously submitted in another contest will not be accepted. Also, participants must deliver before September 20, 2011, a test print of the work in the format deemed appropriate to not exceeding the extent of A3, accompanied by a detailed description of the materials and dimensions in which the work will be presented in case of being selected. Original works will not be accepted until the moment that are required by the Organization expressly. The work must be effectively produced and ready to display in the time of submitting the documentation.

Proposals will be evaluated by a jury composed of prestigious personalities from the arts and medicine, that will analyze the works submitted to appreciating its artistic quality and its relevance to the theme of the contest on dossier. The jury is formed by D. Oscar Alonso Molina, art critic and independent curator, Dr. Manuel Alberto Camba, President of the Spanish society of pain, Dr. Duarte Correia, President of the Associaçao Portuguesa para o Estudo da Dor, D. Pierre Gonnord, photographer, Ms. Ivânia de Mendonça Gallo, Director of the fair of art contemporary art Lisbon, D. Alberto Schommer, photographer, D. Guillermo Solana, Chief Curator of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and as the Secretariat of the same, Ms. Angelika Grundmann.

You will be awarded a first prize endowed with 10,000 euros, which may not be divided, and three honourable mentions. Photography awarded the first prize will be edited by its author as a single copy and will become part of the collection Grünenthal.
