Vatican City, 18 mar ( EFE).- Pope Benedict XVI defended the need to guarantee “for all” a “equitable, secure and adequate water” access before thousands of faithful flocked to St. Peter’s square for the Sunday Angelus prayer.
The Pontiff recalled that Saturday closed in Marseille ( France) VI World Forum on water and that next Thursday will be held the World day of water, which this year focuses on the relationship of this “precious and limited resource with food security”.
Benedict XVI expressed the hope that these initiatives will help guarantee “for all” a “fair” access to water, and thus to promote “the rights to life and to the nutrition of any human being and a responsible and solidary use of the goods of the Earth, for the benefit of present and future generations”.
The Pope also pointed out that tomorrow the feast of St. Joseph is celebrated and thanked “of heart” all those who will have a memory for him in their prayers, the day of his onomastics.
Also asked the faithful that they pray for his apostolic trip to Mexico and Cuba, which will take place between 23 and March 28.
On the other hand, the theologian Pope, who reminded that today is the fourth Sunday of lent, stressed that each must confess sins themselves, so that God’s forgiveness can have effect “in his heart and in his life”.
“Sometimes man loves more darkness than light because it is attached to their sins, but only if it opens in the light and confesses sincerely their own you guilt to God is true peace and true joy”, he asserted. EFE
