Requena’s Hospital performs first lipofilling intervention in the treatment for breast cancer.

Requena, 2013 February.- the Department of health of Requena implanted a new technique of breast reconstruction called lipofilling or breast reconstruction with autologous fat. The procedure allows to grafting fat cells from the own patient obtained from different areas, usually of the abdomen, breast, aiming to correct defects arising from previous surgery without resorting to breast implants.
We are the first service of General Surgery of the Comunitat Valenciana in applying this procedure which allows you to not have to resort to the use of breast prostheses, avoiding complex surgeries and facilitating an early recovery of the patient who does not require hospital admission ”, says surgeon Juan Carlos Bernal, head of Department of surgery in the Hospital of Requena.

Intervention, they point out, is done by obtaining the fat cells from the patient that after a process of purification are finally grafted in the anatomical area to treat, obtaining a very natural breast-shaped as in touch and no visible scars, still the solution chosen by those women who do not want to breast implants.
Is a little liposuction special cannulas in an area where there are fat cells in abundance and they are grafted into the breast through a small incision. This procedure helps to correct size and symmetry breast if necessary ”, indicate the doctors José López and MarÃa Escudero, surgeons of the mother unit of the Hospital of Requena.
