Research in párkinson focused a meeting between experts and patients in Seville.

This activity is part of the so-called awareness meetings, sponsored by the Health Department of the Board of Andalusia and the public Andalusian progress Foundation and health, central entity support and management research in the public health system of Andalusia. This Conference aims to create a space of encounter between the professionals of health research and citizenship, especially associations of patients and their families, to analyse and discuss the main research work are being developed and the results could improve the diagnosis and treatment of certain pathologiesin this case, the párkinson.

This session involved various experts in the field, as in the case of the President of the society of neurogenetics Spanish Neurogenes and director of the unit of diseases neurodegenerative of Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal in Madrid, Justo García Yébenes, who gave a lecture on genetics of the disease of párkinson. This disease surgery, has been another topic addressed in this meeting, in this case in the hands of the optional specialist of the service of neurosurgery of the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío and associate professor of the University of Seville, Maria Oliver Romero. And finally, has also spoken Physiology Professor and researcher of the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBIS), Juan José Toledo Aral, who spoke to attendees about cell therapy in disease of párkinson.

The presentation of the Act was the head of service of attention Sociosanitaria of the General Secretariat of public health and participation of the Ministry of health, Antonio Sagués Amado, who also commissioned moderate questions that was opened at the end of the day so that attendees could clarify all your doubts.

Bringing research to the citizenship

The awareness meetings, framed in the so-called spaces health investigates and organized by the public Andalusian progress Foundation and health, saw the light in 2010 with three meetings on diabetes, heart disease and oncologías with a great success of participation, that is why last year held five meetings on other pathologies such as HIVAlzheimer, rare diseases, fibromyalgia and sclerosis thus answering the demand for citizenship. In fact, over 300 participants among patients and their families gathered in one of these sessions.

With regard to 2012 these meetings go for its third edition after have taken place already since the beginning of year two sessions organized in Granada and Córdoba respectively; the first one dedicated to research in obesity and most recently focused on mental health. Both matches were given an excellent reception, ranging around hundred people registered in each case.

The objective of this Conference is, in short, move to patients the results of scientific practice that is developing not only in Andalusia, but at the national level on certain diseases and make them partakers of advances in the field of research.

Besides this informative action, space health research initiative provides other actions aimed to spread activity develops in the field of health research and that are oriented both citizenship and health professionals. Stand out, among others, the meetings at the border of health research, the children’s laboratories in advanced therapies, the investigates health days, etc.
