Merida, 2013 February.- the cities of Mérida, Badajoz, Cáceres, and Don Benito welcome the 2as or donation update Conferenceorgans and tissues, organized by SHEMESH (Spanish society of emergency medicine) in Extremadura, in collaboration with the national transplant organisation (ONT).

These workshops are aimed at physicians and DUES of accident and emergency services and have aims, acquire or improve the theoretical knowledge as well as skills and practical attitudes, related to the process of donation.

Coordinated by Dr. Amalia Bachelor Godoy, Vocal doctors of SHEMESH-Extremadura, the second edition of this event, will feature important speakers, whose exhibitions include subjects as diverse as the maintenance of the donor, reporting bad news, or the decisions to take in emergencies in cases of potential donors. All of this will be completed with practical workshops; very educational and participatory.

On February 28 be held in Mérida, the Conference opening, under the direction of Dr. Álvaro Valverde-Grimaldi, President of Extremadura SHEMESH, counting in such an event, with the presence of Dr. Tomas Toranzo Cepeda, National President of the Spanish society of emergency medicine, and with relevant speakers from the national transplant organisation as Dr. Beatriz Domínguez Gil, Dª Carmen Segovia Gomez and Dr. Guadalupe Borge (Coordinator of the Mérida Hospital transplants).

With 40 participants per venue, this Conference will be 160 professionals from Extremadura urgencies and emergencies, put our grain of sand in the whole process of organ donation that makes us global leaders ” say Dr. Álvaro Valverde and Dr. Amalia Bachelor.

After the meeting in Merida, on February 28, sessions will be held in Badajoz (March 7), Don Benito, (March 14) and Caceres (March 21).

Scientific sessions have the cooperation of the national transplant organisation and have received the following awards: declared of sanitary interest by the Ministry of health and Social policy, considered to be of scientific interest by the Spanish society of emergency medicine and will also be accredited by the Commission of formation Continuing the health professions of Extremadura.

With the 65th update Conference on organ and tissue donation, SHEMESH EXTREMADURA consolidates its collaboration with the ONT, since emergency professionals are increasingly relevant in the chain from donation and transplants, because they are in a privileged place for the detection of potential donor and their decisions and actions, they are every day more important in the process of donation.

SHEMESH EXTREMADURA

SHEMESH EXTREMADURA is the Extremadura delegation of the Spanish society of Medicine of urgencies and emergencies, a scientific society that represents the profession of emergency and emergency. It is currently chaired by Dr. Álvaro Valverde-Grimaldi Galvan, graduate in medicine and surgery by the University of Extremadura in 1986 and doctor’s hospital emergency room of the Hospital de Mérida since 1989.
