Miami (EE.)(UU.), 14 March ( EFE).-plastic surgeon in the United States.UU. It lies in the Centre of a controversy after commissioning a song and the realization of a video that promotes the Rhinoplasty for a character who is described as a person Jewish with a big nose.
The doctor Michael Salzhauer funded the video to connect to a younger audience, while the creators of the song, the band “The Groggers”, described as well same as a band of Jewish pop-punk with a humorous touch.
“Jewcan Scam” video was made with a comic tone and shows the difficulties facing a Jewish student of a secondary school with a large nose to conquer a classmate.
“Jewcan Scam” is a play on words with the name of a Toucan with a large and colorful peak which is a mascot for a brand of cereal.
The lyrics of the theme song, entitled “a song of love for a nose operation,” says “I want to, but she does not want what I am.” She says you have a peak as Jewcam Sam. “She says that only comes with types with perfect and pointy noses, so cut the size of yours”.
The character undergoes surgery and in the end the girl ends up rejecting him, but a teacher immediately courting.
“The song seeks to be funny, not offensive,” said Salzhauer said in a statement.
But not everyone found the song and the music video grace.
“Is simply disturbing that a doctor play with the weaknesses of the human condition,” said doctor Malcolm Roth, President of the American Society of plastic surgeons.
Salzhauer said that even when the song to some might seem sad or offensive, the message actually “is very deep: nobody should undergo a cosmetic surgery to please another”.
The lead singer of the band involved in the video, Doug Staiman, underwent a rhinoplasty once asked him jokingly to the surgeon if it offered a discount for a group of people.
“I said, is curious you are hiring us to make this video because the majority of the members of this band have massive and deformed nose,” commented singer.
Added that Salzhauer “generously offered us operate at all, but I was the only one who dared to undergo the operation”.
The American Society of plastic surgeons described the video as “offensive and inappropriate”, and initiated an investigation under its code of ethics which “clearly requires that its members uphold dignity the honour of the medical profession”.
Roth said can not comment on the investigation, but speaking generally explained that if one of the members of the organization is found guilty of violating this code, your doctor may lose membership and even certification, among other things.
The surgeon, for its part, has expanded their plans since “The Groggers” recorded the video. Now is a contest that allows people to make their own music videos for the song and whoever has the highest number of views on Youtube, will undergo a rhinoplasty for free.
