The Association Parkinson Madrid brings together most affected patients with youth volunteers in an excursion to the sierra

Madrid, 2011-September the Association Parkinson Madrid has organized for next Saturday, September 17, an intergenerational encounter between párkinson patients affected with a group of young volunteers belonging to the Club Rotaract Madrid young. The activity will consist of a trip to the monastery of SantamarÃa de El Paular, a visit to the natural pools of RascafrÃa and a typical meal at a restaurant in Torrelaguna. Several young people, aged between 25 and 30 years, will help to move, will exchange experiences and share this fun day with nearly of some thirty affected párkinson, 65, who are more advanced this neurodegenerative disease in phaseswith mobility problems or in a wheelchair.
This first experience of leisure, pioneer in Spain, aims to ensure that persons with párkinson in the later stages of the disease have the opportunity to enjoy an excursion with young volunteers. The beneficiaries of this activity are very isolated people generally and are in a situation of loneliness in their homes for months. Such activities are often organized with collective more young people, who have a condition of permanent disability and who have internalized the wheelchair as essential tool in your life. For the affected párkinson, these problems of movement are sign of despair, because that is a sign of the continued progression of the disease that are.

La Association Parkinson Madrid is a non-profit entity, declared of public utility by the Ministry of the Interior, established to meet, Orient, train and inform people about Parkinson’s disease, their families and/or caregivers, professionals and society in general. Currently it has over 1,500 members and 100 volunteers. Services and therapies offered include: physiotherapy, speech therapy, massage, rehabilitation in swimming-pool, social care, health guidance, psychological care, music therapy, organization of self-help groups, organization of medical conferences, training professionals, carers and people in general, support for studies and research, and celebrations of leisure and free time activities.
