The London South Bank University, United Kingdom, cherries, considered a powerful antioxidant, would be helpful for athletes, as they accelerate muscle recovery after a hard session.

The study was conducted on a group of ten athletes, that is they manage, one ounce of an antioxidant composite juice of sour cherry, twice a day a week before and two days after an intense training. the results were that 90% of the athletes who had taken the antioxidant, recovered their muscle power in the first 24 hours, compared with those who had not taken and that took much more to recover to.

In addition to these beneficial effects on muscle recovery after intense physical activity, the results of the study also suggests that the cherries would reduce inflammation associated with the heart disease and arthritis.
