Los I CALCSICOVA Awards recognize four institutions and projects his work in HIV and AIDS.
-the awards ceremony took place on Wednesday May 18 in the Lecture Hall of the eleven in Valencia and counted with the presence of the Director-General of health public of the Ministry of health of the Comunitat Valenciana, Manuel Escolano, and the head of the AIDS PlanMercedes Pons, among other representatives of institutions involved with the work on HIV and AIDS in the Valencian Community
Spain, 2011-may the Coordinator of entities to combat HIV / AIDS of the Valencian Community (CALCSICOVA), held last Wednesday the 1st Edition of the awards CALCSICOVA 2011to publicly thank the collaboration and the work of individuals and institutions that have made it possible that people living with HIV continue beating every day countless barriers still existing social and health care.
The event, which took place in the Lecture Hall of the ONCE in Valencia, counted with the presence of the Director-General of health public of the Ministry of health of the Comunitat Valenciana, Manuel Escolano, and the head of the AIDS Plan, Mercedes Pons. Also attended the award ceremony representatives of trade unions CC.OO, UGT and the Union of nursing assistants, as well as the Dean and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of fine arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The conduct of the Act was carried out by the journalist and humorist Valencian, Tonino.
In the event it awarded four entities and initiatives that work in favour of the participation and full integration and citizenship of people with HIV and AIDS in the Valencian Community. The winners in this first edition of the CALCSICOVA awards were in the health category, Dr. Enrique Ortega Gonzalez, Chief of infectious diseases in the General University Hospital of Valencia unit and President of SEISIDA; in the category Social and labour the La Caixa Foundation; in the category education the Faculty of fine arts of San Carlos of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and in the category of communication Mediosysida of REDVIH.
The awards ceremony also coincided with the world day of AIDS vaccine and the Memorial for people who have died because of the pandemic. For this reason, many of the interventions were directed towards the need to continue working and researching to make vaccine a reality. As concluded Carlos Manuel Gómez GarcÃa, President of CALCSICOVA, “speak of AIDS vaccine is also speak of hope.” The Act ended with a musical performance.
