Madrid, September 2011.- the Member of the General Council of physiotherapists schools of Spain (CGCFE)Iban Arrien Celaya, on the occasion of the celebration of world heart day, he has stressed that thanks to the progress of the cardiac physiotherapy a large number of people affected by cardiovascular disease have managed to improve their quality of life.

As he has assured Arrien Celaya, the treatment of cardiovascular disease through physical therapy has been significant progress since its inception. At present, is a comprehensive approach to the cardiópata patient, acting on the physical, psychological, social, and vocational, aspects through cardiac rehabilitation programmes.

These programs operate at different levels, leading to physical and psychological training of patients and control of factors of risk through a multidisciplinary intervention.

In this line, the vocal of the Council has stressed that a physical therapist, as a member of the team that develops these programs, must participate in common to all professional actions and take responsibility for those under him on the basis of their field of competence and level of knowledge ”. In this way, must ensure a proper functioning of the program, appropriate coordination between the different activities and the implementation of the proposed objectives ”, said.

The cardiac physiotherapy aims, therefore, as it has been stated Arrien Celaya, try to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with cardiovascular disease, improving the quality of life of those affected ”.

Physical therapy is very present in each of the phases through which passes the patient. Thus, the physiotherapeutic intervention takes place on three points very important ” in intervention programmes: health education; advice on monitoring, design and coordination of the physical training program; and emotional support.

CGCFE

The General Council of physiotherapists schools of Spain (CGCFE) is the body that represents more than 40,000 physiotherapists, in Spain, dealing with the common goal of promoting the health of citizens.
