The CGCFE recalled that some of the so called “natural therapies” are already regulated and purview of physical therapy.

Madrid, February 2012.- the Council General of schools of physiotherapists of Spain (CGCFE) last Friday has referred to the last report made public by health calls natural therapies ” and has insisted that some of them, such as osteopathy, chiropractic, or lymphatic drainage are already regulated techniques and competence of physiotherapy.

The Socialist Ministry of Health issued a report which was launched in 2007 at the request of the Congress of Deputies for the regulation of natural therapies, applying provisions of RD 1277 / 2003 on approval of centres, health services and facilities.

In this line, the President of the CGCFE, José Antonio Martín Urrialde, has insisted that the report indicates as natural therapies handling practices ” such as osteopathy, chiropractic, or lymphatic drainage, which techniques are already regulated, as they employ movement as a therapeutic tool (Cinesiterapia), this competition reserved for physiotherapy graduates being ”, as is clear from the order CIN/2135/2008, which established the training requirements and assigning cinesiterapia as a basic training.

The President of the Council pointed out that the CGCFE participated in the preliminary work of the Commission responsible for drafting the report and pointed, at all times, has expressed its opinion to exclude the above techniques of the report ”.

Of the arbitration mode, has stressed the opposition of the Council that universities conduct training course on natural therapies if before there is no regulation of these not ex post ” but for analysis of their evidence of low-level general ”.
