– indicates that it is the cause of the high costs that reveals the study
Madrid, February 2012.- the President of the General Council of schools of Spanish physiotherapists (CGCFE), José Antonio MartÃn Urrialde, criticizes the deficient model management ” in physiotherapy in the national system of health care.
In this way comes to the passage of the views derived from several news, following the publication of a study on the Canarian health, showing the ineffectiveness of some physical means used by physiotherapists in his work, indicating that the problem is not the technique, but the care model ”, submitted by the patient to a standard treatmentdisregarding the peculiarities of his pathology, which is derived from the welfare model expired ”, based on the interposition of professionals between the user and the physical therapist.
In his view, the study, conducted in a concerted Centre, on a basis of application of 30 meetings, making a circuit, and made between 2004 and 2007, it is not a reflection of current reality, and demonstrates the commercial use of techniques applied by professional physiotherapists ”.
New competences of the physiotherapist collected in his title of degree, in force since 2008, they provide experimental on the effectiveness of these methods studies, provided that its use is appropriate to the purpose, avoiding the standardized application ”, points out Martin Urrialde.
Physiotherapists Amer, Goicoechea and Lison, demonstrate the efficacy of electrotherapy, in a comprehensive review published by the Spanish society of pain in 2010. Also, Cochrane Systematic Reviews Database notes the usefulness of the use of electroanalgesia in lumbar pain in 2011.
The CGCFE regrets the social alarm which could lead to this news, and business biases that can arise out of the same, recalling the need to change the health care model to health authorities, by providing the physical therapist professional autonomy which gives his or her qualifications, and involving professional schools in the approval and certification of used technical equipment, as a guarantee of health for the user.
