Tokyo, 4 mar (EFE).-the Japan Emperor, Akihito, 78 years, today was discharged from the Hospital of the University of Tokyo, where the past 18 February underwent a coronary “bypass” operation, reported the public television NHK.
The Emperor went walking in the hospital accompanied by his wife, Empress Michiko, and greeted a smiling numerous journalists gathered at the entrance before saying goodbye to the medical team responsible for the operation, as they showed images of NHK.
Akihito then moved by car to his residence in the Imperial Palace, where to continue his recovery after the intervention of a fortnight ago, in which surgeons created a vascular deviation so that blood can bypass two coronary arteries.
According to doctors, will be needed about a week of rest before the elderly Emperor resume their official work.
Akihito hoped, however, to be present at a grand ceremony in Tokyo that next Sunday will remember the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011, something that will be decided based on its evolution, reported the Agency Kyodo.

Additionally, Akihito and his wife were subsequently seven trips to the affected areas to speak with displaced persons in temporary shelters, showing the side nearest to the Chrysanthemum throne, the world’s oldest ruling dynasty in the world.
Crowned in 1990 following the death of his father, Hirohito, Akihito role is that of a constitutional monarch who sanctioned the official appointments and has diplomatic functions, without executive power.
In the last decade the emperor has suffered from several health problems, and that he underwent a prostate cancer in 2003 and suffered a stomach hemorrhage in 2008.
In addition, last year he was diagnosed with coronary arteriosclerosis and was hospitalized several days of pneumonia.
Doctors recommended to undergo this last speech of “bypass” once angiography revealed on February 11 a narrowing of his coronary arteries.
