Tokyo, 23 feb ( EFE).-the Emperor of Japan, Akihito, today began the process of cardiac rehabilitation in the Hospital University of Tokyo, after the “ bypass” coronary surgery which underwent the past Saturday.
Akihito of 78 years, which was transferred to plant on Monday from the intensive care unit, has been able to start because walking in your room and the corridors of the plant, said the Japanese Imperial household Agency.
In addition, today the old emperor was visited by his wife, Empress Michiko, who used to carry flowers to his private room.
Akihito, Emperor since 1989, is delicate health, and surgery for prostate cancer in 2003 suffering a stomach hemorrhage in 2008, was diagnosed last year a coronary arteriosclerosis.
In this sense, a spokesman for the Imperial household Agency confirmed today to the Agency Kyodo that meditates will reduce the official Emperor’s agenda once he leaves the hospital, if the head of Japanese State so desires.
According to the Imperial household, only in 2011 the emperor made nearly 49 official visits, both in Tokyo as in other Japanese provinces, dispatched some 950 documents and attended ceremonies for the appointment of more than one hundred of political charges.
Akihito also visited the areas most affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck the northeast of the country in March last year on seven occasions.
The medical team expects that the Emperor can leave hospital approximately in a week and a half, provided there are no further complications.
Since the emperor was spoken, the Japanese imperial family has received support from the institutions and citizens, who since Saturday come from the Imperial Palace in Tokyo to sign in a book with messages of support and prayers for his health. EFE
