The Foundation for Cardiovascular Research, Jesús Serra Foundation and the ICCC celebrate World Heart day.

Barcelona, 2011-September on the occasion of the world heart day will meet in Barcelona, September 27, recognized experts in the cardiovascular area and more than 100 guests at the Symposium attendees cardiovascular disease: new ideas, new technologies ” which is organized by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and sponsored by the Fundación Jesús Serra, belonging to the Group Catalana Occidente, in collaboration with the Catalan Institute of cardiovascular Sciences (ICCC). This Act aims to have an impact on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases affecting most of the population. The Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) also collaborates in this Act.

The program of the day, where speakers as moderators Dr. Antoni Bayés Moon and Prof. Lina Badimon, should start with the presentation cardiac tissue engineering: fantasy or reality? ” of Dr. Antoni Bayés-Genis l ’ Hospital Trías i Pujol. Then the presentation made by Dr. José Mª war will focus on arrhythmias and sudden death. Later researchers Judith Cubedo, José Mª Belloso and Monica Tous, beneficiaries of grants of Research Foundation Jesus Serra, present results of his research work based on studies of diagnostic markers, visceral obesity and diabetes and obesity, respectively.

The concluding comments will be in charge of Dr. Bayés de Luna strong driving force behind the founding of Cardiovascular Research and the world heart day, when he was President of the World Heart Federation.

Day of healthy sport

Also the ICCC organizes, Friday, October 21, in the afternoon, the day of sport and cardiovascular health to raise awareness about the importance of moderate sports and activities cardiosaludables. It’s two sessions of Cardio Fit Bike which is intended to raise awareness about healthy habits, as moderate and sport routine, by way of preventing cardiovascular disease. This activity is open to the general public, as well as to employees of the ICCC, the Hospital and the Institute of biomedical research of Sant Pau.
