The brain Foundation celebrates 7 years.
the brain Foundation has spent seven years working in the dissemination and awareness of the problems facing patients and their families, in order to improve the welfare of those affected by neurological diseases.
Spain, March 2012.- The foundation of the brain, the organization created with scientific support and institutional non-profit from the society Spanish of Neurology (SEN) in order to serve as a meeting point between professionals, neurological patients and its surroundings, just turned seven years. Since its inception, at the foundation of the brain work in the dissemination and awareness of the problems that neurological patients and their families live. In these years we have built, together with the associations of patients, the largest neural network of cooperation and support that exists in our country. It is something of which we are very proud and why, we want to continue further in this work ”, explains Dr. David a. Perez, Director of the foundation of the brain.
Over these seven years, the foundation of the brain has carried out several research projects. Including the report of the neurological disease impact public health stresses in Spain, the first conducted in our country on the social and economic impact of neurological diseases and showing the needs of social and institutional coverage of neurological patients and its surroundings. But also more specific about epilepsy or the impact of Alzheimer’s and other dementias who have served and will serve as reference for the elaboration of global plans of action against these diseases.
The foundation of the brain has also launched various training workshops for caregivers and family members of patients of stroke, Alzheimer’s and other dementias who have counted with the participation of neurologists and other professionals such as nurses, neuropsychlogists and neurorehabilitadores. And it has been, along with the Spanish Neurology society, the instigator of the week of the brain ” an initiative that, under the motto your brain is life, take care of it ” annually crosses the main cities of Spain to exercise and test the brains of all visitors.
In addition, recently, the foundation of the brain has released the first issue of NEUROsalud, the first journal of neurological outreach aimed at all audiences, and has instituted a seal of recognition to distinguish the excellence of activities and programs that entities, foundations, organizations and associations carry out in the field of Neurology and neurological diseases.
But perhaps one of the most striking projects has been the creation of the photographic collection friends of Neurology ”, currently consisting of more than 25 images which shows the positive attitude that neurological patients face their day to day and in which participated recognized personalities of the different areas of Spanish society. It’s a travelling exhibition, which after having traveled already some of the main Spanish provincial capitals, these days you can visit the Palace Cultural Center of the audience of Soria.
In addition to these activities, the foundation of the brain has made many others in collaboration with the various health and social administrations, scientific societies, patient associations, media and institutions.
