La Fundació Puigvert inaugurates new building.

Barcelona, may 2012.- La Fundación Puigvert grows and innovates to provide effective response to services that society demands. For this reason which has expanded its facilities and has built a new building of almost 12. 000 m 2.
This building is located on the grounds that, ceded by the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (HSCSP), provided the Foundation in the Cartagena Street. The four buildings are integrated and connected among themselves.
This afternoon it has carried out the inauguration of the new facilities, in a ceremony presided by the President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, accompanied by the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias and the Counselor of health, Boi Ruiz. The authorities present at the inauguration have made a tour for the new building, accompanied by some members of the Board of Trustees.
The construction of the new building responds to the objectives of the Fundació Puigvert strengthen the status of centre of excellence, increase their care – in the public and private spheres activity – and maintain an organizational model based on work in multidisciplinary teams, allowing to obtain a global perspective of the patient and a vision of his illness in a framework to improve the comfort and the accessibility of the sick. On the other hand, you want to have space to increase the research basic and clinical; promote the best working conditions, and integrate the work into modernist complex of the Hospital.
The new facility
The new building, of triangular shape, has 11,800 m 2 spread over seven floors, of which five are below the level of the street Cartagena. From the interior of the Hospital Street, hidden plants are three.
The ground floor hosts the entrance hall. In the semi-basement floor, clinics has been located. Radiology service and the Cabinet of Uroendoscopia are located in the plant – 1, the Cabinet of dialysis, it is in the plant – 2 and laboratory and pharmacy services are located on the floor – 3. The other two plants (- 4, – 5) are intended to clinical documentation and computer services in the warehouses and the wardrobes of personnel.
The construction of the new building was launched on June 15, 2002, when the ceremony of laying the “first stone” was held. The construction of this building is the first phase of an ambitious expansion project of the Fundació Puigvert, which will be continued in the coming years and still has no date of anticipated completion. The entity has allocated a total of 45 million euros to the construction, installations and equipment of the new building and has done so without any subsidy.
Architects who sign the new building are Alfredo Arribas and Luis Tejero. At the architectural level emphasizes conditioning tax solar where did the construction, of triangular shape, and the difficulty of building five underground floors. The project is also notable for having succeeded in integrating the surgical pavilions and clÃnica-construidos in the 1960s – on the set of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, work of LluÃs Domènech i Muntaner.
