Washington, 8 sep (EFE).-La NASA intends to launch today a new mission to the Moon, which responds to the acronym of “Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory” (GRAYL), with the mission to measure the gravitational field of the satellite
La National Aeronautics ans Space Administration (NASA) has established a period of 42 days for the releases, although the mission managers expect that you can leave from Cape Canaveral (Florida) at the earliest opportunity, scheduled for today at 12.37 GMT.
The mission is composed by two probes that will provide images in x-rays of the cortex and the nucleus of the moon with them hoping to learn more about the structure under the surface and its composition and its history thermal.
The NASA announced STS in December 2007 as part of its “Discovery” program and scientists hope to leave “a great legacy” generations future.
Among other utilities, the measures to take the GRAIL will help to a better understanding of the relationship between the Earth and its satellite, recently explained the director of the Division of Planetary Sciences of the NASA headquarters in Washington, Jim Green.
The mission will also help the American space agency to have a better understanding of the natural satellite of the Earth and improve their estimates should return to send again the man to the moon.
