the objective of this Conference, sponsored by Lilly, has been updating knowledge, attitudes and skills towards excellence in traumatology. specialists of various services unveiled activity on ortogeriatria in the autonomous region.
Madrid, March of 2013. Our Hospital Sonsoles de Ãvila, dependent of the Junta de Castilla y León, welcomed on Friday the first meeting of ortogeriatria of Castilla y León, led by the Department of Traumatology, José Antonio Valverde, Manager and specialist in geriatrics, Pilar Sáez López.
The overall objective of this meeting was to update the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for a medical practice to excellence in management, treatment and follow-up of elderly patients admitted to trauma services. The content of the meeting responded to the recommendations of the Spanish society of trauma and geriatric and the objectives of the specialized training in Traumatology and geriatric.
This training day sought, in addition to evaluating the joint work of Geriatrics and Traumatology in the care of the elderly with hip fracture in the community, the update on common problems faced by these patients (such as vertebral fractures and hip, thromboprophylaxis, management of antiplatelet therapy and osteoporosis …)the sharing of models of geriatric rehabilitation of trauma issues, know the Organization of collaboration ortogeriatrica in other communities and promote the updating of protocols, clinical guidelines and latest recommendations in the medical practice of the ortogeriatria.
The program presented various lectures and performances by specialists in trauma, geriatrics, anesthesia and Hematology from various community hospitals that unveiled the activity on ortogeriatria. also counted with the presence of professionals from the Hospital Infanta Sofia of San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) and the presentation of the difficulties in the implementation underway of the clinical pathway and the Hospital Infanta Leonor (Madrid) ortogeriatria unit. The Conference has been organized by services of Orthopedics and Geriatrics of the social welfare complex of Avila with the collaboration of laboratories Lilly and Synthes.
