Spain, April of 2013- Thulium laser, is a new technique to operate the benign prostatic hyperplasia. This disease, although it is benign in nature, affects more than 40% of men older than 50 years.
Dr. Miguel Angel Alonso Prieto is the urologist of the hospital responsible for carrying out this intervention whose main advantage is that it reduces the hospitalization of the patient, to prevent bleeding. Thus, instead of the 6 days of hospitalization that forced classical techniques, this new technique that make only 10 centers in all Spain, allows that the patient can go home within 24 hours. As Dr. Alonso, this technique allows a greater application in patients with a higher surgical risk, or those who are receiving anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy ”.
