(Reuters) – the former gold medalist Olympic Italian force Bovolenta has died after suffering a heart attack during the last quarter of a game, said Sunday the Italian Federation of volleyball.
Bovolenta, who met 38 years in may, collapsed on the pitch during the visit of the team Saturday Volley Foli Lube Macerata.
Doctors could not revive Bovolenta and confirmed his death to reach the hospital.
Bovolenta, father of four children, was part of the Italian national team when they won the silver medal in the Olympic Games for Atlante in 1996 after losing the final to Holland 3-2.
With a height of 2.02 meters, Bovolenta was essential to help win the European Championship in Greece and the silver medal in 2001 in 1995 to Italy.
