Andalusia, 2012-mayCurrent issues such as labor reform applied to scientific and national research policies are some of the developments that presented the sixth edition of the Forum of foundations managers of the research of the Andalusian health system public meeting held the past 17 and may 18 in the sanitary district of primary care of Sevilla.
This forum, whose first edition dates back to the year 2009 is a meeting point for professionals engaged in the management of research in the Andalusian health as well as for health professionals which is carried out and that it serves to put in common both good practices and services and needs that arise in this the Andalusian health sector. It has been, in short, an appointment of reference for entities that encourage, promote and manage scientific practice, and they form a regional network, allowing researchers linked to the Andalusian public health system accessing a homogeneous portfolio of services regardless of the geographical area in which to develop their scientific activity.
As a novelty, this year there was a Conference on policies of scientific and technical research in Spain, given by the Assistant Director of research projects of the General Directorate of science and technology of the Ministry of economy and competitivenessMarina Villegas grace. Already at the regional level, this forum has served to publicize the main novelties of the call 2012 of the Ministry of health and Social Welfare, as well as the evaluation process that follows to select which obtained funding and work within stable lines of research. Responsible for the unit of management of calls for proposals of the Foundation public Andalusian progress and health, Alicia Milano, has been responsible for the issue.
Other current issues also took place in this forum and, in this regard, dealt with the labor reform in the field of r & d in health through an intervention carried out by lawyers of the Labour Department of the law firm Garrigues, Rafael López MartÃn and Juan Antonio Carvajal López, who explained all the reform applied innovations, specifically, to the field of research.
There was also a presentation that outlined the keys to search for alternative sources of financing to the traditional in the hands of Diego Moñux Chércoles, CEO of Science & Innovation Link Office (SILO), which placed special emphasis on non-competitive private finance.
In another order of things, but also in terms of innovations, this sixth edition of the Forum contemplated the intervention of the analyst of the Department of health and Social Welfare of the Junta de AndalucÃa, Rosa Andrade, who spoke of the tools offered by the social web for the development of research in open and participatory environments.
Support services for the research community
The 6th Forum of research foundations managers has been a meeting place and discussion that you covered a wide range of topics of interest. In this regard, and beyond the novelties of this Edition, dealt with the most relevant milestones that have reached from the beginning of the year in the network of foundations managers of the research of the Andalusian health system public, information that came hand in hand with the managing director of the Foundation public Andalusian progress and Health, Juan Jesus flag. In this aspect, was emphasized in the tasks that have been made to standardize formats and processes, thereby contributing to the alignment of the network with the strategic framework of the Department of health and Social Welfare.
Already on the day of Friday 18 there was talk of training actions aimed at professionals in management and support services for r & d (session on international projects, transfer of technology and promotion of independent observational studies and clinical trials).
This forum allowed attendees to keep abreast of the common portfolio of services provided to the Andalusian health researchers from each one of the foundations that make up the network and allowing to provide services efficiently and effectively to all professionals conducting research on health. These services range from the methodological and statistical support to the dissemination of opportunities of financing or the transfer of technology.
Support and management of health research
The network of foundations managers oriented its activity the support and management of biomedical research that develops within the public health system of Andalusia and is formed as a permanent structure of cooperation and interrelation for the continuous improvement of the services provided to researchers. To do so, and in addition to the unique portfolio of services, the network has a unified information system which provides the data necessary for the assessment and monitoring of scientific and technological activity of the Andalusian public health system, allowing to perform a comprehensive analysis of such information.
The public Andalusian progress Foundation and health, by its regional character, promotes and coordinates this initiative that has involved all provincial foundations that provide services to the research community, supporting the project and collaborating with the activities and plans to perform. Foundations that make up this network are: Foundation for the management of biomedical research on the province of Cadiz, Beturia Andalusian Foundation for health research in Huelva (Fabis), Foundation for biomedical research in Córdoba (Fibico)Andalusian public foundation for the research of Málaga biomedicine and health (Fimabis), Foundation of the bio research of Andalusia Eastern Alejandro Otero – giving coverage to the provinces of Granada, Jaén and AlmerÃa-(Fibao) and finally, the Andalusian public foundation for the management of research in health in Seville (Fisevi).
This organizational model unique of its kind in the country involves a qualitative far-reaching step by allowing that any professional in the health system, which performs its activity within the Andalusian territory, irrespective of the place has support of management and support to his research work.
