Madrid, 2011-September the Centre Alzheimer lion has opened its doors this week so that all those wishing to donate his memory, joining the campaign Bank of memories ”, an initiative of the Foundation Reina Sofia to raise awareness in society about the disease of Alzheimer.
Alzheimer’s lion has decided to support this campaign, in the context of the acts which the employer makes on the occasion of the international year of Alzheimer’s disease 2011 and in support of the initiatives promoted since the founding Queen Sofia to contribute to awareness-raising and social awareness of this disease.
Bank of memories ” is a virtual space created to keep all the memories donated by anonymous people, familiar faces and people in the first phase of the disease of Alzheimer.
The Centre remained open throughout the week and has provided a point of connection to the Internet so that all those who wished to bring to deposit his memory may do so, counting with the help of professionals from the organization if necessary.
On Monday, the lion Alzheimer Center organized an event with personalities, friends, volunteers, families and users, those who individually verbalizaron his memory for all attendees. This public event was recorded and later uploaded the video of this initiative for depositing it as a souvenir in the Bank of memories ”.

the campaign, in addition to the Web, consists of various television spots, wedges of radio and advertising in press with the aim to raise awareness to the need for the research society for fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
Through the campaign, anyone can contribute to this initiative by donating one of his favorite memories, through a photo, a video or write a letter. They have also had the possibility of collaborating sponsoring one of memories previously donated by another person, through a sum of money that will go entirely to Alzheimer’s disease research.
This campaign was framed on the work carried out by the Fundación Reina Sofia on the occasion of the year international of Alzheimer’s disease 2011 in order to contribute to raise awareness of the importance of investment in scientific research to advance the fight against Alzheimer’s and related neurodegenerative diseases.
This campaign, led by the Fundación Reina SofÃa and devised by the Agency BBDO counterpoint, has counted with the collaboration of Ceafa (Confederation Española of relatives of patients of Alzheimer and other dementias), AFAL Contigo (National Association of Alzheimer’s) and one hundred Foundation (neurological diseases research center)belonging to the Ministry of science and innovation and the IMSERSO belonging to the Ministry of health and Social policy.
The Foundation Reina SofÃa
The Fundación Reina Sofia, founded in May 1977, is a joint entity of charitable and cultural character without spirit of profit and of a permanent nature. Since 1994, manages and promotes numerous projects, education and health, as well as social and humanitarian aid which benefited children, adults, immigrants, disabled persons and affected by natural disasters.
From 2002 to 2007, one of the main lines of action of the Foundation Queen Sofia has been Alzheimer’s project, whose main exponent is today the Queen Foundation Alzheimer Center Sofia, opened in 2007 in Vallecas, where they have carried out so far 27 research projectssix of them at the international level. It has also generated more than 60 scientific publications and 38 communications at congresses and scientific meetings.
This year, the Foundation Queen Sofia carried out, with Pasqual Maragall Foundation, various events on the occasion of the international year of the research in Alzheimer’s disease 2011, include the World Summit on research in Alzheimer’s disease that was held in Madrid on 22 and 23 September in the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Madrid.
