Oral cancer
Oral cancer is the 5th most common cancer for men and 7 for women around the world. The majority of cases occur in men between 40-60 years, but in recent years the trend is appearing more and more in young people, elderly and women.[i]
oral cancer is a malignant tumor that can occur anywhere in the mouth. It may occur as an ulcer, a lump, a small wound, or a red or white board, and it is important to know if what we cannot attribute to previous injuries, and if they do not cure or improve significantly within a period of two weeks.
As risk factors, the main are tobacco and alcohol, excessive exposure to the Sun (for the cancer of the lips), as well as poor dental hygiene. A prosthesis or sharp or broken teeth can also predispose to the development of oral cancer.
The way to prevent it, in addition to avoid those bad habits, is to take a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and oil, particularly olive.

The College of odontologists and stomatologists of the 1st Region (COEM), founded in 1930, is a corporation of public law with its own legal personality and full capacity for the fulfilment of its purposes, which is governed by the law of professional associations and their own statutes. The territorial scope of the College comprises the provinces of Ãvila, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo and Madrid community.
