Valencia, February 2010.- Health Foundation and community, through the mauve project, program of prevention that links domestic violence with alcohol abuse, intends to teach tomorrow Friday, and as a novelty in Valencia, a conference entitled alcohol: its effects and its connection with domestic violence ”. Persons with sensory disabilities comprise one of the working groups object of the mauve project, try one of the populations at risk of social exclusion, which implies greater vulnerability by them when it comes to suffer ill-treatment.
Through a practical methodology is intended primarily to these people to reflect on their own relationships. It is on the one hand, give them to know the indicators of a relationship of abuse, in contrast to the indicators of a healthy, equal relationship, providing them with strategies for early detection, enabling them to escape in time from this kind of relationship. And, on the other hand, encourage reflection and awareness with respect to its own level of consumption of alcohol, their motivations for this and the myths behind those expectations of consumption as well as the effects that are already being a reality for them / ACE, and that most likely will appear in the future.
This population deserves close attention to the mauve project, as it expresses the technical team of the program, post that available studies indicate that the prevalence of victimization of couple and substance abuse violence is higher in this group compared to the general population, and so it being shown associations seeking initiatives linking both problematic ”.
On the other hand, the mauve project ended last Wednesday 24th, with a very positive balance a university extension of 10-hour course, started on Monday in the facilities of founding (Foundation of solidarity and the volunteer of the Valencian Community).
This training has been directed to both students of the University of Valencia and Futures as professionals in the field of drug addiction, primary care and family violence, and also for those interested in both problematic.
From the mauve project – explains the programme technical team – consider that this type of course are of particular relevance and play a double role: on the one hand, the student becomes direct beneficiary of a programme for the prevention of intimate partner abuse and its connection with alcohol abuse. And, on the other hand, it gives professional tools for the job from prevention and intervention futures as that will be ”.
Course has spanned topics such as alcohol and its myths, expectations, and of factors involved in the establishment of the habit of consumption, indicators of abuse and dependence, risks and effects of abuse, as well as domestic violence and their rates, cycle of violence, victims and perpetrator characteristicsexplanatory models, and finally, the link between alcohol abuse and domestic violence. All of this with an eminently practical methodology through audiovisual media, discussion groups, analysis of songs, games roles and case studies for the design of evaluation and intervention.
