The Forum of the medical profession expresses its satisfaction at the creation of the national register of professional health.
Madrid, October of 2011- the Forum of the medical profession has expressed satisfaction at the decision of the Ministry of health, Social policy and equality to launch the national register of health professional for which has already initiated procedures for hearing of the draft royal decree that will lay the foundations for improving the planning of the resources of the health system.
This decision of the Ministry of health, Social Affairs and equality, is part of one of the commitments made last July with the Forum of the medical profession, which involves the College medical organization (WTO), the National Conference of Deans of faculties of Medicine (CNDFM)the State Conference of doctors unions (CESM), the Federation of scientific societies (FACME) and the State Council of students of Medicine (CEEM).
The creation of the national register of health professional is one of the agreements of this framework Convention signed the Leire Pajin Minister with representatives of the Forum of the medical profession and whose ultimate objective the maintenance and improvement of Spanish health system, the promotion and guarantee of the quality of care and the ability of service to citizens.
The Ministry of health, Social policy and equality initiated last week the procedure for hearing of the Royal Decree project that is created and regulates the national register of health professional with whom you want to lay the groundwork for a necessary tool for the planning of human resourcesto contribute to the improvement in the realization of prospective studies of oferta-demanda and it will be integrated into the information system of the national system of health (SNS). The introduction of the registration will be held within six months after the entry into force of the Royal Decree.
Among the functions attributed to this registry are the incorporate data on health professionals included in its scope; the competent bodies of the health administration provide the information listed in the register and which are necessary for the planning and management of human resources, directly, or prior statistical processing of data; (e) integrate into the system of health information from the national health system data relating to health professionals.
Records of professional bodies and their general councils, the health/health services of the autonomous communities, as well as other health institutions and governed by the State administration departments will be integrated in the national register of health professional.
The Ministry of health, Social policy and equality has assured that it will adopt the necessary measures to ensure the confidentiality of the information contained in the register of health professionals, as well as use for exclusively statistical, scientific or medical purposes. However, shall be public record data relating to name, degree, specialization, exercise and, where appropriate, category and function of professional.
The national register of health professional is one of the commitments of the agreement between the Ministry of health, Social Affairs and equality, and the Forum of the medical profession, which also includes others such as the responsible participation of the doctor in the rational use of resources for the sustainability of the health systemthe guarantee of the quality of care, ensuring the level of competence of physicians and the availability of drugs and appropriate technology.
Collaboration lines marked in this agreement to carry out these actions include, in addition to the articulation and implementation of the register, the development of the current design of core subjects in specialized training, the standardization of continuing education in the environment of the European Union, the implementation of professional development, periodic validation of the licensing and studies on the status of approval and recognition of foreign qualifications, and the situation of specialist doctors without official title.
