Quito, 19 nov (EFE).-the President of the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference (CEE) and Archbishop of Guayaquil, Mgr. Antonio Arregui, came out with success of an operation open-heart, reported the Church of Ecuador.
Intervention “open heart and beating”, carried out in the Hospital Clinic Kennedy of Guayaquil, began today at 10.30 and lasted until 16: 00 local time (1530 to the 2100 GMT) and concluded successfully, so state Arregui “is critical but in recovery”, explained a statement of the EEC.
On the morning of November 17, Arregui was admitted to the hospital by “a massive stroke in the anterior face of the heart”, but was achieved to stabilize through catheterization, “which is why his painting improved dramatically, despite presenting significant obstructions” and was rescheduled for later surgery.
This morning, however, worsened the clinical picture “because of the critical state of the lesions, producing a”shock”heart, complicated by respiratory deficiencies”, he noted the communiqué, which led doctors to perform an immediate intervention “to rescue the greatest possible number of heart muscle”.
“He introduced four”bypass”coronary, resulting in a slow improvement, but progressive”, stated in a press conference Dr. Edgar Lama Valverde, responsible for the operation. Surgeon
Lama pointed out that the condition of Arregui is now critical, but stable and have to “wait 72 hours to see that all goes well”.
