La Sociedad Española del Dolor (SED) will give more prominence to the opinion of professionals in its 10th National Congress.

GranadaApril of 2013- from 10 to 13 April, more than 600 professionals will gather in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos of Granada on the occasion of the celebration of the X Congress national of the society Spanish of pain (SED) and the XI Ibero-American meeting of the Federation of Latin American associations for the study of pain (FEDELAT). Here will present and discuss the latest advances in the approach to pain, a serious health problem suffering from more than six million Spaniards (17.25% of the population), and the chronicity is 500 million sick days per year in the European Union and 34,000 million euros accumulated costs, according to data CHANGE PAIN and The Social Impact of Pain (SIP).
According to Dr. Rafael Gálvez Mateos, anesthesiologist, head of the unit of pain and care Hospice of the Hospital Virgen de las Nieves, of Grenada, and President of the Organizing Committee, has tried to keep the spirit of scientific, formative and informative of the Congress, although making a significant budgetary effort ”. Four days will address topics of great relevance in this field: the approach of cancer pain, the relationship between palliative care and pain units, new information technologies applied in the patient with pain, obesity as emerging cause of painful pathology, the relationship between mental health and chronic pain, etc. Likewise, in the official opening ceremony will be presenting the latest data from the Observatory of pain.
