La College medical organisation (WTO) considers that the morning-after pill should be free, so have access to all women who need it, but ceased to be freely sold in pharmacies and return to the centres of health or family planning, where the doctor could “indicate, not prescribe”.
“The WTO, for many reasons that are in the report referred to health, believes that the emergency contraceptive pill should be indicated, it is not the same as prescribed, and free, so that you reach all women that require and be served in health or family planning centres,” said the President of the College medical organisation (WTO), Juan José RodrÃguez SendÃn.
“the fundamental reason is that we do not believe that to be cheaper, you have to buy via Internet or believe that only should be able to access those 22 euros to buy, because it is a necessity and should be accessible to any woman that needs”, adds.
RodrÃguez SendÃn has recognized that the report of the WTO on the possible risks of the pill the day after and the advantages or disadvantages of keep pharmacies was submitted to the Ministry of health on 1 March. However, refused to release the exact document contents until decides it the Ministry.
On “reasonable doubts” posed, in his view, the use of this drug in children, the President of the WTO pointed out that this is “a drug and not a consumer product, which would be sold in supermarkets” and for this reason, is the health professional who must inform the juvenile “is the right thing for themselves and their companions”.
