Training and communication between health professionals key to prevent medication errors

Zaragoza, 2011-December training in the safe use of medicines and communication between the different health professionals are the main keys to prevent errors of medication in the Pharmacy Department. So said Idoia Beltrán Gárate, doctor in Pharmacy and Professor of pharmacy practice at the University of Navarra classroom at a conference organized by Almus pharmaceutical, in collaboration with the College of pharmacists of Zaragoza.
The objective of this talk, titled strategies to prevent medication errors ”, is to offer the pharmaceutical training tools appropriate on this subject to make put them into practice in the Office of Pharmacy and can offer the patient pharmaceutical care.
Dr. Beltrán, highlighted the importance of new technologies as a support measure to improve the prior validation processes, since they help to professionals of the Office of pharmacy is more vigilant and recognize prescription medications that sound equal or resemble.
Furthermore recalled as essential measures in the prevention of medication errors: compliance with the protocols, reporting bugs to improve the process, control the working conditions of professionals and educate the patient.
