Vinalopó health forms in first aid to students of the Department.
-around of 20 students of 1st Bachelor of the Salesian College of Elche have received their first lessons on first aid

Elx, December 2012.- El service of urgencies of the Hospital of the Vinalopó has initiated a series of training sessions on First targeted aid to provide basic knowledge in this matter so that anyone can respond to a medical emergency.
The talks are focused on the realization of cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, also known as CPR and will be taught to students of institutes of the Department of health of the vinalopo Valley.
it is a project that was very well received in 2011, both for health personnel who gave them by students who took them, reason that led to the emergency team to repeat this experience. This year’s program consists of 2 hour sessions taught by emergency medical personnel in the hospital wards. The workshops will contain an initial theoretical part and a practice in which students may serve of a Manual first-aid ”, edited by own emergency department, which will serve as a guide to reinforce the knowledge acquired in the sessions.
The theoretical part of the course is focused towards 5 major themes:
-General principles of first aid, assessment of vital signs
-assessment of vital signs on a victim
-Basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
-emergency trauma, wounds, Burns, bleeding, …
-mode of action before seizure, fever, shortness of breath, chest pain, gastroenteritis, …
in terms of the practical part, students can work with dolls to RCP, material to immobilize alleged fractures and perform fictitious wound bandages. The objective is to raise imaginary situations type motorcycle accident ”, for example, learn to react to real situation.

Dr. Blas Gimenez, head of service of urgencies of the Hospital of Vinalopó, has insisted in the need to teach such courses that contribute to overcome the ignorance of citizens in general on this matter ”. According to Dr. Giménez, the time it takes for a person to receive medical assistance since an accident occurs until you reach emergency services, can have a vital importance for the injured. Hence the importance of educating the population in these basic techniques of resuscitation.
Around 20 students and students from the Salesian School of Elche have received their first lessons about first aid. During the next year 2013 expected more courses following the established planning.
